Swedish_Massage is what most people think of when they think of therapeutic massage.  A combination of pressure and gentle movement over and around the muscles creates a warm and relaxing feeling in the body. It is our most popular style of massage.

Deep_Tissue_Massage is frequently confused with a very vigorous, "hard" or firm massage. Actually, deep tissue work is more often used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct pressure or friction applied across the muscle grain. This technique effects the deepest layers of muscle in the body.

Connective_Tissue_Massage is a dynamic approach to bodywork that releases fascia (the tissue that surrounds every system in the body) restrictions and chronic tension.  It produces great ease and efficiency of movement throughout the body.

NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) is muscle-specific workfocused on pain relief.

NMT is a thorough program of recovery from acute and chronic pain syndromes which utilizes specific massage therapy, flexibility stretching, and home care to eliminate the causes of most neuromuscular pain patterns. This specific and scientific approach to muscular pain relief will help to bring about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers.  It can be part of a comprehensive program, complementing all other health care modalities

Trigger_Point_Therapy_(TPT) is a technique similar to those used in Shiatsu or acupressure therapy but it is based on Western anatomy and physiology. Trigger points are tender congested areas in the muscle that radiate pain into adjoining areas. Trigger points will not dissipate on their own; however, significant relief results when trigger points are treated.

Sports_Massage is an adaptation of Swedish Massage that is used in all parts of an athlete's conditioning and training program.  It is useful pre or post event, as a maintenance activity or in a rehabilitative process.

PreNatal Massage is particularly beneficial. Stiff muscles, sore joints, swelling and fatigue are realities that detract from this treasured time in a woman's life.

This therapy shares many of the goals of regular massage -- to relax tense muscles, ease sore trouble spots, increase circulation and mobility, help you sleep better, and just make you feel good - plus the session is tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women.   Practitioners with advanced training in this area can help to safely promote increased circulation, improved immune function and relief from back pain and headaches.

Like all therapeutic massage, this work can soothe an overactive nervous system and still the mind. Prenatal massage therapists are trained to understand the changes a woman's body goes through and adjust the massage accordingly.
Healthy By Intention has pillows and bolsters to make your session perfectly comfortable for you.

Thai Yoga Massage ("TYM")

Hot/Cold Stone Massage Therapy - La Stone® Therapy blends ancient healing techniques that use warm and cool stones placed on the body with modern massage therapy to give the recipient a truly unique and deeply relaxing therapeutic experience

Reflexology is a system of massage for the feet which is based on long-held concepts that congestion and tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. The intent of this work is to relieve that congestion or tension.

Aromatherapy is a treatment using specific aromatic essences and scents which have been distilled from various herbaceous plants and flowers. The oils extracted from these plants are called essential oils. As used in therapeutic massage, they can stimulate the lymphatic system (the body's natural cleansing system), calm the nervous system and exert influences on the body via the nervous system as well as the limbic system (the area responsible for emotion and memory) of the brain.

PLEASE NOTE:   THE USE OF SOME ESSENTIAL OILS CAN BE HARMFUL IF YOU ARE PREGNANT.  BE SURE TO INFORM YOUR PRACTITIONER IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE PREGNANT OR IF YOU ARE TRYING TO BECOME PREGNANT.

Reiki means "universal life-force energy" and is an ancient healing art.  A Reiki practitioner works with the body's own energy thereby allowing the energy to flow into areas of the body that are in need.  Reiki is often combined with massage to bring about an even deeper sense of well-being and relaxation.
